I feel as though for the most part, I will need to brush up on quite a few of the ELA standards in the future for when I educate my courses- quite frankly, I'm not too familiar with many recent online programs meant for education, though I am quite able to instruct regarding certain programs such as Microsoft Paint and the office suite of products. In addition, certain physical electronic devices such as projectors and smartboards are things that I have issues with instructing, largely due to the lack of experience that I have when it comes to utilizing such products.
In essence, the CPALMS toolkit is one that helps with providing technological resources and guidelines for specific grades within the United States educational system for teachers and educators. They provide helpful milestones for the ways in which students should be developing in regards to utilizing technology, as well as helping to increase and enrich a student's ability to engage with these materials. I would use this in my classroom simply for the fact that it is a helpful reference as a teacher- for instance, it wouldn't quite be fair to assume that younger students would be able to use websites such as turnitin or programs such as Microsoft Excel without a good degree of difficulty, as they haven't worked up to that point yet.
I feel as though while working on the newsletter assignment it better familiarized me with the way in which you can utilize Microsoft Word in order to produce handouts for a class, as well as helping me with thinking outside the box in regards to producing new handouts. Being able to create a document that is readable and aesthetically appealing is something that is tricky, and I still feel as though there could have been improvements on my end- but in all I feel as though it was a helpful and actually rather fun practice in producing a good, solid handout to be used for students in the future.
