My name is Jack Wilson and I'm currently a history major, having just switched over from psych to pursue my interests and passions- namely in teaching history on either the college or high school level. I'm a huge fanatic of history of all kinds from across the world, and I love learning about different cultures and their stories. I'm also a huge fan of fantasy games such as dungeons and dragons and all sorts of fantasy novels! I have four chihuahuas back home and I also love just about any animal with fur.
Previously I've only really used technology in an educational setting by using photoshop and the adobe suite products, as well as microsoft products. Aside from that I'm very new to applying technology in the context of a classroom, and I haven't used websites such as Blogger before, nor have I worked with creating websites or the like. The furthest I've even gotten to this before is making a blog on tumblr.
I hope to learn all about how to use different websites to augment traditional teaching methods, and how to better use technology to the fullest to improve my teaching efforts down the line. In addition, I hope to learn more about the people who are taking this course with me. Given some time I can imagine that I'll be leaving this course with more know-how on applications and programs that I've never even used before.
I believe History can be so amusing when teachers use technologies deliberately and properly for some lessons. My son had a history project that he had to make a homepage to explain about any historical conflicts. History can easily be a rote learning but with the technologies , teacher can make students discuss, think more, and construct their own understanding and knowledge about historical events and figures. :-)
